Pilgrim
I have walked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela on three separate occasions. On the latter two trips I documented the landscape and some of the pilgrims I encountered, as I walked the 800km’s from St. Jean de Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela. I’ve done my best to capture it as honestly as I could, from the sleepy mountain villages, to the recession ravaged city suburbs & all the curious beauty in between. It is a strange & wonderful thing to witness the crossing of a foreign country, all on foot, at walking pace. Taking in every sight and smell; never missing anything due to haste. The same with the people I met - never a quick hello, but hours of deep and personal conversation, which often turned to days & weeks of chat & inevitably silence.. Walking in silence, with relative strangers, comfortably, for hours.. I’ll be back.
